How we use your information

Last updated 5 October 2026. This notice explains what personal information Signpost Studio collects, why, and your rights.

Who we are

Signpost Studio is run by Ismael, trading as Signpost Studio. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@signpoststudio.co.uk.

Information you send us

When you use our contact form or email us, we receive the details you give us, such as your name, business name, phone number, email address, town and message. We use them to reply to you, prepare a website preview you asked for, and, if you become a client, to deliver and support your website. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

Business contact details from public sources

We contact local businesses about websites. To do this we use business contact information that the business has made public, such as a Google Business listing or Companies House, for example a business name, phone number and address. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (business-to-business marketing). Before calling, we screen numbers against the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Corporate TPS. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time and we will record that and not contact you again.

Website previews

Preview sites we create for a business are marked as concept previews, are hidden from search engines, and are removed on request.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. We use trusted providers to run our business: website hosting and form handling (Netlify), domain and DNS services (Cloudflare) and email. They process data on our behalf under their own data protection terms. Some may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as we work together and then for up to 6 years for tax and accounting purposes.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it (including marketing), or restrict its use. Email hello@signpoststudio.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
